Release 5 of the Okapi Localization Tools Made Available by ENLASO (3 February 2006)

e-San Selects Conversis as Worldwide Translation Vendor for Mobile Phone Interface (30 January 2006)
Conversis, a UK-based translation and localization company has won a contract from e-San, based in the UK, to support the translation of their mobile phone messaging services for the European market. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
e-San’s pioneering systems deliver personalized healthcare information direct to patients suffering from chronic conditions --- such as diabetes and asthma --- via their mobile phones.
The output from a measuring device, like a blood glucose meter, is transmitted by an ordinary mobile phone to a secure server. The server prepares a graph that is sent straight back to the patient’s phone screen, providing instant feedback. Clinical trials have shown this feedback has significant benefits and that it leads directly to better outcomes.

LRC establishes LRC-Brazil at leading Latin American L10N and I18N Research Centre (14 November 2005)
The LOCALISATION RESEARCH CENTRE (LRC), represented by its Director Reinhard Schäler, and the CENTRO DE GERAÇÃO DE NOVOS EMPREENDIMENTOS EM SOFTWARE E SERVIÇOS (GeNESS), represented by its General Coodinator José Eduardo de Lucca, today signed a memorandum of understanding at Latin America’s primary internationalisation and localisation event, LISE 2005, declaring their intention to establish at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) an office of the LRC, LRC - Brasil. The agreement covers, among other points, the establishment of a mirror site of the LRC’s Localisation Technology Laboratory and Showcase (LOTS), the holding of major LRC – Brasil events and training courses, and the initiation of joint research projects in the area of internationalisation and localisation.

Certified PASSOLO Trainer - Certification Program Launched by PASS (30 June 2005)
PASS Engineering has given a series of workshops leading to qualification of the first Certified PASSOLO Trainers. Monterey Institute Adds Globalization/Localization Center (14 May 2005)
The Monterey Institute of International Studies announced today that its Fisher Graduate School of International Business has been awarded a two-year, $183,000 grant through the United States Department of Education's Business and International Education (BIE) Program.
